WHILE Globalization leads to improvements in technology AND job openings, it also has negative results on cultures AND customs
Globalization: the process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas, and other aspects of culture.
Globalization is constantly spreading across our world, in some places faster than others. But is it good for us? Of course, globalization has positive aspects, on an article from Monash College, and another article from Investopedia give some examples:
1. industrialization
2. increased employment
3. improvements in technology, education, and facilities
4. strong positive relation between capital flows
5. higher growth rates
6. provide opportunities for reducing macroeconomic volatility on output and consumption
However, when there are good aspects, there are also bad ones, too. Both previously mentioned sources and another, OilPrice.com, provide plenty counterexamples, showing why globalization may not be such a good thing:
1. uses up finite resources more quickly
2. increases world carbon dioxide emissions
3. increases risk of failure for smaller companies
4. loss of cultural sites and customs
5. destruction of foreign languages
6. encourages dependence on other countries for essential goods and services

So at this point, we need to ask ourselves: Is globalization the best for us? Do the negatives outweigh the positives, or vice-versa? Is the destruction of indigenous cultures and languages worth the risk? Not everyone comes out on top in the end.
I chose to research the topic of globalization because I feel that this is a serious and important factor in today's society. Globalization will impact the very future of our planet, and based on the choices we make, may be very good, or very bad. What I found most interesting was the amount of negatives I found for globalization. I knew there were issues, but I hadn't really thought about just how bad in can get. The subject related to chapter 4, which was based on culture, specifically on the concept of globalization.
