While I was doing some research, I came across some things that caught my eye. One of these was an article which said, "An accent can misrepresent you, and possibly even hurt your chances of getting hired." I believe this statement is true. It also goes along with a later sentence which said, "TV and film create stereotypes via the characters they produce, their accents create perceptions." People have received ideas of certain dialects which affects theirs decisions. I think this comes into play a lot with hiring situations. If people are getting judged just by their regional dialects, think about trying to get hired talking with ebonics! "Ebonics legitimize poor communication skills and hinder the academic/career potential of blacks."
