Saudi arabia
Saudi Arabia is a third world country that is officially 100% Muslim, but unofficially there is about 3.5% Christianity and 0.6% is Hinduism. Saudi Arabia's government is considered to be a theocracy, which is a government that is ruled by religious leaders. This type of government is very strict and has harsh punishments for breaking the law. The way that their religion affects the diffusion of pop culture clothing is that there is little to no diffusion of pop culture diffusion of clothing allowed. The women of Saudi Arabia have little rights and they usually wear a long black cloak called an abayah. The men wear a traditional dress called a thobe. The man's head dress is made out of three things: a small white cap called a tagia, a large square cloth called the gutra, and a doubled black cord called the igal to hold the gutra in place.
America
America is a first world country that is 78% Christian, 5% other, and 16% are unaffiliated. America's government is a democracy so there is no limits on the amount of diffusion of pop culture clothing. Men and women alike are allowed to wear whatever they want to express themselves. There is some schools that make their students wear uniforms but they are allowed to wear whatever they want to outside of school. However there is some problems that come with this as well. There is some men that decide that they want to dress as women and vice versa.
Conclusion
This idea ties into APHG because it shows that different parts of the world are in different states of development, there is many different governments that are doing different things to their territories, and also that some parts of the world can be considered to be better than others. I chose this topic because I feel like different religions are in different worlds. Some religions have completely different views than others and don't even believe in the same gods. Also I feel that the level of development can also affect how strict that the government will be. If a country is poorly developed it needs to be more strict to make an attempt to become more developed.
