drugs, there are a lot of ways cacao can be used. How does the plethora of uses of the

40-50 million people depend on cacao for income. This income, however, depends on
supply and demand. If too much cacao is produced, cacao prices drop. If there is a
drought or disease takes a bite out of crops, though, prices rise and farmers profit

Cacao producing countries have become hot spots for cocaine smuggling. In one drug bust in western Africa, officials found nearly 1,500 pounds of cocaine with a street value of around $50 million.
