ARTIFICIAL GLACIERS HELP FARMERS KEEP MORE OF THE FOOD THEY PRODUCE
Chewang Norphel thought of these artificial glaciers while walking around his village and he came by an area of water and saw that one section of the water was frozen and the rest of it was not. He found out that the water was moving too quickly so it was harder for that water to freeze. So he experimented with this idea and came up with these artifical glaciers
Here is what these artificial glaciers look dry and filled with frozen water
Chewang Norphel built these by running these canals along mountain sides. Doing this creates the water to slow down so when the water collects in the center it will be layers of ice. Then when it becomes warmer outside it will melt the ice and the water will run down to the villages because these canals run through different villages. All of these artificial glaciers are in the Himalayas, as of now. Since Norphel is an older man he is teaching others throughout the villages to build these glaciers so when he dies others will know how to build them.
These glaciers have helped a bunch of people in the nearby villages collect a lot more food than usual. These artificial glaciers will help the people who live there become healthier. This idea can potentially help other places in the world. This idea can help starving families, as well as giving more jobs. Cause somebody has to build these massive things. Since global warming has changed their climate drastically, having this as a back up really puts the people at rest because now they don't have to worry about where their next meal will come from.
Building these artificial glaciers have a specific process, and take time to build. Here is the process of building these glaciers.

This video is just an overview of everything you read above:
I choose this topic because I came across a site of modernized inventions that would help the environment. I scrolled down and found artificial glaciers. I had no idea what it was and I clicked on it and found it pretty interesting that somebody came up with this idea to help his hometown with surviving and giving them the ability to have more food.
